Yes, I did - but that msg came through to me *after* I'd sent my msg (and was posted only 20 mins before I posted my message, which is pretty close in mailing list terms). Your answer had not answered the OP's question, which was why I followed it up ("Only the user has authority" is not an answer to "Is firefox or the OS to blame?"). However, as you pointed out, a subsequent message did provide the answer (that it's an error in this release of firefox).
