Yeah, but writing an application 'strictly' in php5, e.g its new private class methods, breaks all backward compatibility and prior to 5 class implementation was a little weak compared to other languages like Java (in my opinion anyway) so one is left with the conundrum in the advent of php5 is that would one like to now then peceivably write bad code, when there are now new better php methods.
True.. if you want to use the cool OO features of PHP5 then its unlikely to work in PHP4.. however I managed to use some of the cool / improved features of PHP4 and still be useable in PHP3 so its not entirely impossible :-) Regards Mark
