Hi, I have to install a package of ours in rpm, for example, scan.8.5.i386.rpm. It says that the package need librpm-4.2.so and librpmdb-4.2.so. But my curent install of rpm is 4.1. So I download a new version of rpm: rpm-4.2-1.i386.rpm. However, install fails too and says libelf.so.a is required by rpm-4.2-1, librpm-4.1.so is needed by some ware, etc. Is there a simple way to install our package without impact on other software currently in the system? Any suggestion is welcome.
I would d/load the rpm-4 source and compile it to run from a different location from the installed version - say /opt/rpm4, or your (or root's) home directory. Dylan
Thanks Ben
