1) On a Suse 8.1 based system, Yast2 doesn't redect my installed SCSI Epson Perfection 1640SU Office scanner after reboot/new login. (This works however Ok on Suse9.1). That is I have to reinstall the scanner each time in Yast, and then xscanimage (sane 1.0.14) and xsane 0.95 works for flatbed scanning (not with the ADF as reported for Suse9.1 in another current post).
Has this been a known problem and experience from Suse 8.1? Suggestion to fix it?
Have you checked the knowledge base?? I had a similar problem long ago and there was a fix which involved (if I recall) setting a symlink.
2) I would add that the command "scanimage -L" (or any other option) results in the following error message: "scanimage: error while loading shared libraries: libsane.1 cannot open shared object file, no such file or directory"
I don't know if the above problems are related. Suggestion to get scanimage to work?
