I attempted to reinstall RealPlayer8 after a failed RP10 installation (bad sig) and was met w/the msg, 'not a valid block device' after YaST failed & I attemtped a manual mount. The only hint I get from the log is: Aug 21 14:51:38 linux kernel: hdc: drive_cmd: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error } Aug 21 14:51:38 linux kernel: hdc: drive_cmd: error=0x04Aborted Command Aug 21 14:51:45 linux kernel: hdc: DMA disabled ...guess that means my device is busted. I had problems burning CDs when USB modem was in use & it appeared to be IRQ problems so I added the 'pci=biosirq' to the kernel parameters --the other options didn't seem to want to allow boot. The device worked after that, though the problem regarding USB still was present. Then last evening I was wondering why I couldnt' mount a CD but didn't press the issue until today. -- ..."Yogi" CH Namasté Yoga Studio "If music be the food of love, why can't rabbits sing?"
