Greetings, In fedora before switching to SUS9.1, I could ssh into my Fedora server which is headless and leggless, and for example run xmms and it would start on my screen, but now I just errors (see below) I have tried running "xhost +" and "export DISPLAY=
:0" but to no avail, I then deleted the /root/.Xauthority file but it recreates it. Any clues please
The Fedora guys probably set "ForwardX11 yes" in /etc/ssh/ssh_config. This automatically sets up an X tunnel so that apps on the remote system may display on your X server. While convenient, it introduces a serious security risk. By allowing the remote system to access your X server, a user on the remote system may run things such as keyloggers, etc. My recommendation: Leave the setting to "no" and use "ssh -X user@system" when you want to login to a system that you want to run an X app on and you trust the admin. - -- James Oakley Engineering - SolutionInc Ltd. joakley@solutioninc.com http://www.solutioninc.com ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This e-mail is CONFIDENTIAL and contains information intended only for the person(s) named.
