Can you explain why my SuSE 9.1 Pro upgraded to KDE 3.2.3 and thence to 3.3.0 has a much older version of FreeType installed?
% rpm -q freetype freetype-1.3.1-1150
I have not experienced any font-related problems, by the way.

Try checking for "freetype2" instead. That is likely to be the one you are looking for now. ;o)

Ah. % rpm -q freetype2 freetype2-2.1.7-53 Or, more generally: % rpm -qa |egrep -i freetype freetype2-2.1.7-53 freetype-1.3.1-1150 freetype2-devel-2.1.7-53 So, where is the problematic 2.1.9 version coming from on those systems where it is installed? Randall Schulz
