I am suddenly having some type of problem with the audio on my system. I'm running a 9.1 system with an Ensoniq card and I've never had a lick of trouble with it. But today I was running KDE 3.2 as root and I did "init 3". My system went to init 3, but I get white noise from the speakers. I figured it was because of changing levels so I didn't think much of it. However, after a powerdown and power up, I still get the "static". The card still plays everything that I send it, but while playing the static is more quiet, but still present. However, when I exit XMMS, the noise is back. It's almost like the mixer is folding in audio from a microphone that isn't plugged in, but I've never plugged one in... There are lots of sound modules loaded, but there always have been and I've never paid much attention to them: snd_seq_oss 31232 0 snd_pcm_oss 57512 0 snd_mixer_oss 18944 1 snd_pcm_oss snd_seq_midi 9120 0 snd_seq_midi_event 7680 2 snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi snd_seq 54928 5 snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi,snd_seq_midi_event snd_ens1371 23140 1 snd_rawmidi 25508 2 snd_seq_midi,snd_ens1371 snd_seq_device 8456 4 snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi,snd_seq,snd_rawmidi snd_pcm 97032 2 snd_pcm_oss,snd_ens1371 snd_page_alloc 11528 1 snd_pcm snd_timer 25860 2 snd_seq,snd_pcm snd_ac97_codec 62468 1 snd_ens1371 snd 61444 14 snd_seq_oss,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_seq_midi,snd_seq_midi_event,snd_seq,snd_ens1371,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq_device,snd_pcm,snd_timer,snd_ac97_codec soundcore 9056 1 snd gameport 4736 1 snd_ens1371 This is very annoying, and I'm hoping someone can help me out with this.
