I have a semi laptop that has been working Great with Suse 9.0 for over a year. Sorry, I have never tried the modem since I always use the network card. The computer is an ECS Desknote (one of two people in local lug that have them) and the reason I say semi laptop is it has no internal battery. It uses an external one of AC or DC from car thru an adapter ( I have the adapter but not the external battery) . Normally they are not cheap but I got a good deal and a local store has carried them then droped the price since they didn't have the demand they thought they would. As usefull as a used laptop and a lot faster IMHO.

Can anyone recommend a good, inexpensive laptop that will work with SuSE 9.0? I need one fairly quickly and can't afford the time to have lots of problems getting it running. I need network and modem access.
It doesn't need to be a speed demon, just reliable.

I like my HP ze5570us... I had problems to begin with but I wonder if part of it was that I was basically unfamiliar w/SuSE. I am currently running SuSE 9 Pro, and the uptime is good. It is active 24/7, and the last time I rebooted was for a setting which required it. Since that, uptime is 'up 6 days 1:23, 4 users'
Do you know if HP laptops are generally compatible? Also, does the modem work with 9.0? -- Jim Sabatke Hire Me!! - See my resume at http://my.execpc.com/~jsabatke
