Yes I saw that too...
If you have 'alias eth0 bcm5700' or any other driver in your
/ect/modprobe.conf.local, and now you do rmmod tg3. It will unload tg3
and load bcm5700 !! I am wondering why is this ? Not getting proper
replies though!
Since tg3 is not unloaded, /etc/init.d/network start works in your case.
I suspect you have tg3 entry in modprobe.conf or in similar
configuration file

I don't know when the module gets loaded.
I just stopped the network, then tried "rmmod tg3", but the module won't
unload even with "rmmod -f tg3", no complaints, it just puts me back to
the prompt, lsmod is telling me the module is still loaded and not in
use. Started the network again. Regards Sid.
