I just updated from SuSE 8.2 to 9.1 and I'm getting an error from Postgresql that it cannot start with 7.3 database files.
/usr/share/doc/packages/postgresql/README.SuSE.en suggests using pg_dumpall to save off the database files and then reload them with the new postgresql.
Unfortunately, when the system was upgraded, the old one was removed and I cannot run pg_dumpall on the data.
How do I handle this??
Perhaps there is an application that can read those database files. Without such a program, I think best would be install 7.3 on a separate partition, and use that to run pg_dumpall. Perhaps a minimal installation, but with the proper database files would do. 7.3 is still available in /pub/suse/discontinued/i386/7.3 on ftp.suse.com and ftp.gwdg.de Cheers, Leen
