Is this some new syntax in crontab files? I just looked for this "@hourly" entry and cannot find it.
Perhaps you need to re-check the proper syntax for crontab files.
Actually, that syntax is supported by Vixie cron, it's just not mentioned in the man page. The source is the definitive documentation. entry.c is the one to look at @yearly or @annually: shorthand for 0 0 0 0 * @monthly: shorthand for 0 0 0 * * @weekly: shorthand for 0 0 * * 0 @daily or @midnight: shorthand for 0 0 * * * @hourly: shorthand for 0 * * * * @reboot: to be done first thing after a reboot
