Hi:
I have tried
vga=0x317 result is broken console vga=normal result is broken console vga=<none> result is broken console
By "<none>" I mean that the boot parameter was not present at all, on the boot prompt.
Any clues about what to do next? There must be some other configuration aspects that are involved.
Thanks.
Ok, but you didn't reply to my two other questions ! Is there a TV input connected to your card ? Is TV out enabled in XF86Config ?
Oops, sorry about that. I see no indications in /etc/X11/XF86Config that the TV out is enabled. There is no TV capability for this card anyway, so certainly there is no TV input connected.
This is an MSI FX5200 card that I bought specifically because it was inexpensive with a DVI output. The DVI output only works with the nvidia driver.
Actually I'm not sure if the same text console problems occur with the analog out.
Thanks for the response to my problem. I'll be interested in your suggestions.
Oh, I also had submitted this problem to the nvidia forum back during the 5336 release of the driver. No solution arose from that effort.
Good day!
OK, after a last idea, I think I'll give up. I'd similar problems with release 5336, I'd to come back to telease 4620 (www.minion.de for kernel 2.4 or 2.6) and it worked like a charm. Have a try. If it doesn't work I suggest you visit the forum Nvidia and Linux at http://www.nvnews.net you'll certainly meet someone with your card and your problem. Sorry. Michel.
