I've left my previous post in below for archival purposes.
Carl - Thanks for posting on this. I really thought I had gone nuts. I've looked at all the permissions I can find, and I just know it has to be something I'm not seeing. This is one of those weird "it worked once and I used YOU and now it didn't". I'm using KDE, so this has to have come from either the recent kernel update or perhaps the latest KDE updates. I have a very plain vanilla system. I don't feel like risking anything on my production box by updating the kernel (SuSE 9.0 with 2.4.21-215-athlon kernel) because being able to listen to Flash noises isn't important compared to having everything work.
Hopefully, someone will figure this out or I'll live with it until the next update. ;-)
Thanks for posting.

A week with no replys I can only assume that either we are unique in no sound for flash or as you say its been given a pass until the next version.
Since mozilla is technically a third party program I wonder if they have solved the problem?
Ill ask my lug we have several distros so it could be Mozilla or Suse.
Thanks, Carl. I've been so busy cleaning up virus/spyware laden Windows computers that I haven't had time to think about it. If I ever get an answer, I'll be sure to post it for you though. Malke -- MS-MVP Windows User/Shell Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic"
