Lost graphical login

I just installed a new Samsung 213T TFT monitor. I have three SuSE 9.1
Pro systems and a single Windows XP Pro system that share the monitor
through a Belkin KVM switch.
Anyway, all of the systems except for one SuSE system recognized the new
display fine, letting me feed the new monitor profile CD in and they all
look great.
But this one SuSE Pro system (its got an old 3DFX card) insisted the new
display was an older model fo Samsung. After dozens of trys, I finally
tweaked the XF86Config enought to get it to start up graphically. Then
sax2 was able to complete the configuration correctly.
The big BUT is that I can no longer login graphically. I boot up to the
text login prompt. Once I login - either as root or another user - I can
run "startx" and the desktop starts.
I have been through every single option in Yast that I can imagine might
have a bearing on this (Login Manager, etc.). Still no luck.
Someone pleeeasse tell me what I screwed up and how to fix it.
Thanks in advance - Richard
