Hello!
Updating kernel in guest VMware machine running SuSE 9.1 makes system unbootable. Boot is impossible in any of the modes: into runlevel 3 or 5 and in a failsafe mode. Obviously it is easy to revert any changes in VMware and restore system to previous state but the idea is to get system updated!
Any ideas how to fix it?
Jacek
Send Email to Suse. Even REALware (hardware) machines are having this problem on some kinds of disk drives (usually older 4-10gig drives).
At least with VMWARE you can change the disk type from ide to scsi to see if that helps. There is a howto on the vmware site somewhere. The manual perhaps. Just saw it a few days ago.
Vmware tells that the 4.5.2 release supports SuSE 9.1 as guest.
So what? Thats not what this thread is about. Its about getting a broken kernel from Suse in the last upgrade.
So what, you are the best !! BUT the kernel is not broken, it works. Did you try it? with VMware ? With the last release?
Bye.
