I'm trying to sync the Motorola smartphone A768 with my SuSE 9.1 notebook, 
using multisync. (The A768 is Linux based, and a really nice smartphone. It 
gets shipped with a printed GPL in the manual!!!)

However before I can even try multisync, there needs to be a usbnet 
connection. After many many hours of googling I still do not get usbnet to 
create the usb0 network interface. (And no usb0 means no usbnet and no syncml 
access for multisync.)

So the question is: How do I get usbnet to give me a usb0 (etc...)

USB access to the phone works fine, the modem in the phone can get accessed 
and queried correctly. 

To get usbnet to work, I eventually disabled the cdc-acm driver used for the 
usb-modem connection, with no visible difference though.

Below are more details. Oh yes, connecting to the phone and syncing works fine 
on the same box (multi) bootet to windoze. So it is not a hardware issue, and 
not a problem on the phone.

I would really appreciate some help to get this working! Just imagine if I 
would have to boot to windose to sync a phone which is running linux ...

dmesg shows that the phone gets recognized, and that (after modifying 
modules.usbmap) the usbnet driver gets loaded. However there is no usb0 
created:
