Hello, I am trying to get a tablet that I acquired to work. It is not a Wacom but an Aiptek. I can get X to work with the stylus only but the mouse is not recognized. Also when I try and use Gimp with pressure sensitivity, it does not respond to the differences in pressure even though I activeted it in the preferences. From what reading that I did on the subject, this device requires both a kernel driver and a X driver. Well it is looking like the one for X is at least partially working but the one for the kernel I am not so sure of. According to the web site for this tablet, I should be able to cat the /sys/bus/usb/drivers/aiptek directory to get the status of the tablet. Well there is nothing in the directory at all. So I figured that I would need a kernel module. I loaded up the aiptek module and to ensure that the tablet would be seen, I edited the boot.local file to load the module upon reboot and rebooted. After the reboot, the above directory is still empty. I did a lsusb and it returned that it did detect my tablet but the mouse that goes with the tablet and the pressure sensitivity still will not work so I go and read again. Well they the developers stated that you may need to look at the modules.usbmap to see if the driver is listed and to see if your product and vendor ID is listed. Well mine is not. So Here is what I would like to know, 1) Can I edit the modules.usbmap to reflect the device that I am trying to set up or will I need to recompile the kernel? 2) How can I tell what driver was assigned to the tablet that is using USB? Thanks, Marshall
