Hi-- Running 9.1. I have a UPS, but it's only good for a few minutes. If I'm not near the machine, it will time out under power failure. It is very possible that I will not be here to shut down by hand. The UPS does not have a digital output. What will happen to the files, under Reiser fs, when the power goes out, and when it comes back? Should I shut off the machine when not in use, due to thunderstorms and possible power outages? It's not a server, and there's really no reason to keep it running. I just thought I'd see how it works this way. (Very well!)
Why not have it configured to do an automatic shut down?
How can I do that? There is NO digital output from the UPS. The first thing the computer knows is that there is no AC input anymore. --doug
