k3b Problem Upgrading SuSe 8.2 to 9.1

Hi,
I wonder if someone could advise me.

While running 8.2 I attempted to upgrade k3b using a SuSe rpm to allow DVD
burning. In doing so k3b completely failed to work from that point simply not
even getting to the splash screen.

I then upgraded to 9.1 using the upgrade rather than new install option. Now
k3b continues to fail but does give some diagnostics:-

"The application k3b crashed and caused the signal 11 (SIGSEGV)"

and...

"This backtrace appears to be useless.
This is probably because your packages are built in a way which prevents
creating of proper backtraces, or the stack frame was seriously corrupted in
the crash."

No doubt I could install as new but I do not wish to lose about a month of
emails and so forth.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ros
