Can you give a hint to the ximian folks to provide the gnutls package? It would make the supplementary/GNOME/update_for_9.1/applications/ directory complete, isn't it?
If it was that simple, I would just provide it in pub/people/mmj. But there's some export/legal stuff with this being encryption and SUSE being an american company now.
1. Ximian already provide gnutls in their evolution-devel-snapshot directory 2. So does suse, on the 9.1 discs
But could you please expand on your argument. The original reason I moved from red hat to suse all those years ago was that idiocy surrounding encryption. suse being a european company meant I could get everything nicely precompiled and didn't have to scan the web for things the way I had to with red hat.
Are you saying I'm in the same situation again? Will I have to move on to some other distro now?
I wouldn't go this far yet. The whole Novell thing is still pretty new to us, and certainly was when 9.1 was getting done. We didn't want to take any chances, so it was played safe everywhere. -- Mads Martin Joergensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogical, with just a little bit more effort?" -- A.
