When running apt-get, I get the message that the gaim and amarok packages are being held back. I don't see anything in my apt.conf file where this was specified. I want to update these package, so what should I be checking to remedy this?
What errors are you getting exactly?
Gaim can't really be installed unless you have the dvd: linux:~ # apt -s install gaim Reading Package Lists... Done Building Dependency Tree... Done
The following packages have unmet dependencies: gaim: Depends: libgnutls.so.10 but it is not installable Depends: libgnutls.so.10(GNUTLS_REL_1_0) but it is not installable E: Broken packages
Yes, I realize I've built gaim against gnutls where it used to be mozilla in the past. But it stopped working for me using mozilla libs at some point, and then I switched. Now the problem is there's no gnutls available (except for me of course ;), so the options are: 1) I remove the gaim package from my pub/people dir, since I've given it to the fine Ximian people to do a better job than me. 2) I leave it and people have the chance to use it with a self compiled gnutls.
