I have noticed one thing that has changed, once a version is discontinued, it drops completely off the SuSE sites. You use to be able to get programs for versions I believe back into the 5's I don't see those on the SuSE ftp anymore. I'm not very happy about that, I use SuSE 7.3 on two machines, and now it's really dead as far as SuSE is concerned. ---Jim On Thursday 27 May 2004 10:17, you wrote:

I am sure this is an easy question, but I can not find the answer on the suse website. If someone purchases suse 9.1 pro, how long are the updates available to them? Or is this like RH now where you have to keep purchasing updates every year?
They are still maintaining updates, if we mean security patches and things like KDE, for SuSE 8.0, which came out around 2.5 years ago (?), but I think it probably will get pushed off the back of the stack when 9.2 appears. So I suppose if things continue then 9.1 can still expect to be supported until around the end of 2006. Lots of people can now tell me that I'm wrong about this and how ... but that service has always been free of charge. I've not heard that they are planning to change that.
If we mean getting 9.2, 10, or what-have-you then you're either buying the new version or downloading it over ftp. Cheers Fergus
