Hi there, i´m upgrading my server´s disk, from 20 Gb to 120Gb, the (smip myself, no numb!)>
Well, since the last reply to my post, i´ve done some progress... and would like to share them with the list. I was wishing to upgrade my server´s disk, that runs under software RAID1. But i was running with raid only at the / And a wish to make the boot partition become a raid too... (i guess is not really worthy to have raid, sice if You lost the first HD, You´ll lost the boot, and, in my case, it would be needed do remove server from rack, remove one HD, install a CD-ROM and then restore the boot Everyting was ok, i´ve booted a knoppix, build my RAID, formated the RAID partition, and transfered the data. ok, i´ve had planned to make the boot via RAID, but I couldn´t! i´ve got just a LI99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 screen. the details follows : actual lilo.conf : boot = /dev/hda change-rules reset read-only menu-scheme = Wb:kw:Wb:Wb lba32 prompt timeout = 80 message = /boot/message image = /boot/vmlinuz-24052004_2.4.19-acl label = novo-kernel root = /dev/md0 initrd = /boot/initrd image = /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.19-acl label = linux-acl root = /dev/md0 initrd = /boot/initrd and some another boot options... actualy it works fine, but no RAID at boot partition the lilo to boot with raid : #lilo.raid.conf disk = /dev/md1 bios = 0x80 raid-extra-boot = auto boot = /dev/md1 disk = /dev/hda bios = 0x80 disk = /dev/hdc bios = 0x80 change-rules menu-scheme = Wb:kw:Wb:Wb lba32 prompt timeout = 80 message = /boot/message image = /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.19-acl label = linux-acl-raid root = /dev/md0 initrd = /boot/initrd and some others boot options... (it really doesn´t works!) and, if someone cares, my raidtab : # autogenerated /etc/raidtab by YaST2 raiddev /dev/md0 raid-level 1 nr-raid-disks 2 nr-spare-disks 0 persistent-superblock 1 chunk-size 4 device /dev/hda3 raid-disk 0 device /dev/hdc3 raid-disk 1 raiddev /dev/md1 raid-level 1 nr-raid-disks 2 nr-spare-disks 0 persistent-superblock 1 chunk-size 4 device /dev/hda1 raid-disk 0 device /dev/hdc1 raid-disk 1 (this last entry (md1) is not on my actual raidtab file) my next step will be to create a new initrd (i´ve never done it before...), but at the weekend i´ll see it well, i really cound´t boot with raid... very sad, can anyone let me happy?
