Sorry folks. Found the answer. I hadn't rebooted my system since updating the kernel. At this point everything seems okay, but got some checking to do. Eddie On Sunday 23 May 2004 09:35, eddie wrote:
Hi all,
I've just received and installed SuSE 9.1. One of the problems that I have is with my soundblaster live value card. I know that it has been the topic of discussion on this list but in attempting to resolve it I discovered something interesting.
When I modprobe for snd-emu10k1 I get the following error message:
FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.4-52-default/modules.dep: No such file or directory
However, having installed locate, run updatedb and queried for emu10k1, I get the following result:
/lib/modules/2.6.4-54.5-default/kernel/sound/pci/emu10k1 /lib/modules/2.6.4-54.5-default/kernel/sound/pci/emu10k1/snd-emu10k1-synth. ko /lib/modules/2.6.4-54.5-default/kernel/sound/pci/emu10k1/snd-emu10k1.ko
depmod also fails for the same reason:
WARNING: Couldn't open directory /lib/modules/2.6.4-52-default: No such file or directory FATAL: Could not open /lib/modules/2.6.4-52-default/modules.dep.temp for writing: No such file or directory
How do I fix it so that the system looks in: /lib/modules/2.6.4-54.5-default instead of: /lib/modules/2.6.4-52-default/
I'm assuming that there must be a config file somewhere that can be edited or a script that be run to correct it.
Thanks in advance.
