Here is what I found and did to get xntp working on SuSE 9.0 pro (1) rcxntpd stop (2) as superuser: ln -s --force --no-dereference ../.. /var/lib/ntp/var/lib/ntp (the original problem is the link target was ../. [note the one dot]) (3) touch /var/lib/ntp/drift/drift.ntp (4) chown ntp.nogroup /var/lib/ntp/drift/drift.ntp (5) echo 0.0 > /var/lib/ntp/drift/drift.ntp (6) ntpdate tick.greyware.com (7) rcxntpd start Hope this helps some other poor soul........ -- David C.
