With Yast you can export a list of all your packages to a .sel listing. This list can be imported when you install a new version of SuSE and when you select your software (put it on a floppy or some partition and mount that manually to be able to load it). Helps me for not having the packages i need and i find it a better apporach than to just install all packages/ garbage/ security risks.
Liked your solution and awaiting my 9.1 I had a look into this user.sel file after producing this selection file. Nice to have all selected packages but they all have their version number included. How are you going to use this selection file with a newer SuSE version?
