Did you change the runlevel in inittab from 3 to 4?
no. it should be done during boot, isn't? (I am booting by CD-ROM, because my bootable floppy is corrupted and I don't want to install the lilo boot manager from slackware: i'm using bare.i root=/dev/hda10 noinitrd ro) I'm trying to keep the SuSE interface for lilo: I'd included "slackware" in the menu (vmlinuz, label and root) but the option doesn't work.
The screen freezes. I tried to edit /etc/X11/XF86Config for set 800x600, 31.47-35.5 Hz, 50-90 Vt, with depth=16, etc. But it still doesn't work.
How did you configure the Slack X server ? Manually or using XF86config?
It was done manually: $mcedit /etc/X11/XF86Config (to be sure I edited /etc/X11/XF86Config-vesa :)
Bye Emilio
Embraces, a.
