I am not knowledgeable enough to know how to check wether or not I have hid or wacom installed. Please elaborate. lsmod results after I changed to sux in the shell konsole. I have to use another USB mouse as well at the moment as the wacom doesn't do anything, as soon as it works I will remove this additional mouse. This is a dual boot with winXP, and both mouse and tablet work fine there, even at the same time. linux:/home/frits # lsmod Module Size Used by hid 40640 0 tuner 16524 0 tda9887 7172 0 bttv 143372 0 video_buf 19972 1 bttv i2c_algo_bit 9352 1 bttv v4l2_common 6400 1 bttv btcx_risc 4872 1 bttv i2c_core 23684 4 tuner,tda9887,bttv,i2c_algo_bit videodev 9472 1 bttv wacom 12160 0 edd 9240 0 joydev 10176 0 st 38940 0 sr_mod 15652 0 ide_cd 36484 0 cdrom 36508 2 sr_mod,ide_cd nvram 8328 0 usbserial 28912 0 parport_pc 35264 1 lp 10916 0 parport 37704 2 parport_pc,lp ehci_hcd 27140 0 ohci_hcd 19076 0 sis_agp 5760 1 agpgart 28712 1 sis_agp ohci1394 30724 0 ieee1394 99896 1 ohci1394 snd_seq_oss 31104 0 snd_seq_midi_event 7680 1 snd_seq_oss snd_seq 54800 5 snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi_event snd_pcm_oss 57384 0 snd_mixer_oss 18688 2 snd_pcm_oss speedstep_lib 3712 0 freq_table 4612 0 snd_intel8x0 33580 5 snd_ac97_codec 62212 1 snd_intel8x0 snd_pcm 96904 2 snd_pcm_oss,snd_intel8x0 thermal 12424 0 processor 16040 1 thermal snd_timer 25732 2 snd_seq,snd_pcm snd_page_alloc 11400 2 snd_intel8x0,snd_pcm gameport 4736 1 snd_intel8x0 snd_mpu401_uart 7808 1 snd_intel8x0 fan 3972 0 button 6032 0 snd_rawmidi 25380 1 snd_mpu401_uart snd_seq_device 8328 3 snd_seq_oss,snd_seq,snd_rawmidi battery 8580 0 ac 4868 0 snd 61316 21 snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi_event,snd_seq,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm,snd_timer,snd_mpu401_uart,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq_device soundcore 8800 3 bttv,snd ipt_TCPMSS 4352 1 ipt_TOS 2432 9 ipt_state 1920 63 ipt_LOG 5632 55 usbcore 96988 7 hid,wacom,usbserial,ehci_hcd,ohci_hcd sis900 19460 0 evdev 9600 1 ip6t_LOG 5504 2 ip6t_REJECT 7168 3 ip6table_mangle 2688 0 ipt_REJECT 6400 3 iptable_mangle 2816 1 iptable_filter 2816 1 ip_nat_ftp 4720 0 iptable_nat 21548 1 ip_nat_ftp ip_conntrack_ftp 71856 1 ip_nat_ftp ip_conntrack 30768 4 ipt_state,ip_nat_ftp,iptable_nat,ip_conntrack_ftp ip_tables 17152 8 ipt_TCPMSS,ipt_TOS,ipt_state,ipt_LOG,ipt_REJECT,iptable_mangle,iptable_filter,iptable_nat ip6table_filter 2560 1 ip6_tables 18448 4 ip6t_LOG,ip6t_REJECT,ip6table_mangle,ip6table_filter ipv6 244100 17 ip6t_REJECT,ip6_tables subfs 7296 3 nls_cp437 5888 2 vfat 14080 2 fat 43328 1 vfat nls_utf8 2176 5 ntfs 86092 3 dm_mod 50044 0 reiserfs 233808 3 aic7xxx 177716 0 sd_mod 19840 0 scsi_mod 107980 4 st,sr_mod,aic7xxx,sd_mod And now lsusb: linux:/home/frits # lsusb Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 Bus 002 Device 002: ID 056a:0011 Wacom Co., Ltd Graphire 2 Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 Bus 001 Device 002: ID 1241:1122 Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 And now the results of the items of your second email: linux:/home/frits # modprobe hid linux:/home/frits # modprobe wacom linux:/home/frits # Now the wacom still doesn't work at all, also not when I remove my additional usb mouse. linux:/home/frits # grep -i wacom /boot/config-2.6.4-54.5-default CONFIG_USB_WACOM=m linux:/home/frits # grep -i hid /boot/config-2.6.4-54.5-default # USB Human Interface Devices (HID) CONFIG_USB_HID=m CONFIG_USB_HIDINPUT=y CONFIG_HID_FF=y CONFIG_HID_PID=y CONFIG_USB_HIDDEV=y # USB HID Boot Protocol drivers I have removed the additional mouse, connected the wacom, and booted. The wacom was recognized by linux, and I was given the yast window to choose the mouse. But all the USB mice option there didn't work, none of them brought the tablet to life. I have no clue what to do next. -- Frits Wüthrich
