I am new to SuSE, not to rpms having been with Red Hat since 5.2.
If I download a binary rpm and install it from the command line is the rpm database as up to date as if I installed it from Yast?
Yes, YaST is just invoking rpm, so it's the same thing.
How do I install it from Yast?
What is the advantage of installing it from Yast?
That you don't have the hazzle of independencies, and you wont forget to run SuSEconfig
How about building source RPMs under Yast?
You cannot. -- Mads Martin Joergensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogical, with just a little bit more effort?" -- A. P. J.
