Is xinitd a replacement for initd? I looked for doc's and man pages, but couldn't find any. John Lamb is correct. inetd has been replaced by xinetd. It's configuration file is:/etc/xinetd.conf AND the files in /etc/xinetd.d
More secure and easier to add or delete services.
