and that lots of motherboard include gigabit cards,
do you know if CAT 5E cables are ok (mine have "FTP CAT 5E verified for
gigabit ethernet" but that might be markering :)?

Anyone has any experience to relate in setting up a small scale
gigabit network: kernel driver problems, effective measured performance,
switch performance or reliability, ...?
