I have tried to change two files in /etc/opt/kde3/share/config/kdm: kdmrc AND kdmrc.SuSEconfig
In both, I tried to change the following items: AllowShutdown=All (from "Root")
I then tried to run both ldconfig and SuSEconfig, yet the change doesn't seem to take effect. However, I get the following output from SuSEconfig <clipping the leading and ending lines>:
Executing /sbin/conf.d/SuSEconfig.ispell... Executing /sbin/conf.d/SuSEconfig.kdm3...
ATTENTION: You have modified /etc/opt/kde3/share/config/kdm//kdmrc. Leaving it untouched... You can find my version in /etc/opt/kde3/share/config/kdm//kdmrc.SuSEconfig...
Executing /sbin/conf.d/SuSEconfig.libxml2... Executing /sbin/conf.d/SuSEconfig.man_info...
Any idea how to get the changes to take place? Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Why not just do it in Yast, under "Security and Users"? If you select custom settings, you can go to the 2nd page of settings and select your choice of "Shutdown Behaviour of KDM".
