Font size in Evolution - strange symptoms

Hi list users!
I use Evolution 1.4.4 on SuSE 9.0 + KDE (distro version).
The fonts are little bit too large so I want to decrease the font size.
I use gnomecc and start its "Fonts" applet. It is enough just to start
and stop it - after that I restart Evolution and fonts are OK. But, next
time I log in, I have the same problem. I also tried
gnome-control-center with the same effect. Fonts are OK only through the
current session. Next time, I have to repeat the whole "ritual" - i.e.
gnomecc/Fonts in-and-out.
I find it very strange: first, the settings are not saved for the next
session, second - I really don't change font sizes or anything - just
start the "Fonts" app and exit and it's enough to set the fonts for the
duration of the current session.
Is there anybody on the list who saw the same? Or, better, anybody who
knows how to solve this?
TIA
