I am trying to work out how to send faxes from my SuSE9 system and have been going round in circles. I have tried the manuals but I cannot seem to get anywhere. Which software do I use, and how do I get a document "printed" to the fax modem?

I'm not sure how others are doing it, but I can tell you how it is set up here. I use 'kprinter'. In Mozilla, choose 'print' from the file menu, then click on 'properties'. Change the print command to kprinter and adjust your margins.
Ah, thats good progress, the double dialogue box (mozilla then kprinter) is a nuisance, but at least I now get the printing options...
I also set kprinter to be the default printer in Open Office and other apps. This give me a single print interface to deal with.
double dialogue box again which is a pain!!
As for faxing, setting up Hylafax is realy easy and can be accessed from kprinter. After installing Hylafax from yast, run faxsetup as root and answer the questions. Edit /etc/inittab and uncomment the hylafax line (you may have to change the ttyS1 to whatever port your using). Then run kdeprintfax and configure it to use hylafax.
I've got hylafax on, is it better than Ksendfax? -- Tim Nicholson BBCi at http://www.bbc.co.uk/ This e-mail (and any attachments) is confidential and may contain personal views which are not the views of the BBC unless specifically stated.
