Hi everyone, My experience with the Suse and Wireless setup really sucks (on a laptop). The card I use is a Linksys WPC11 802.11b version 3. Suse has always discovered and recognized the card but never saved or kept the configuration. I modified the conf files and also went throught YasT2 but without any luck. Last night I went to our monthly Linux-Meetup and fooled around for half an hour before it worked. Was seeing the Hot Spot via wavemon, received and IP address but no DNS resolution. My only solution was to set a static IP address on my internal Broadcom 5440 10/100 Ethernet NIC, rebooted the laptop (maybe I should have used dhcpd only) and everything worked. If you take a look at Xandros they have a really nice WiFi configuration in KDE THAT REALLY WORKS and a 3D video driver for the RADEON 9800 PRO that pumps out at around 5000 FPS while crunching 2 SETI sessions at the same time (on a DELL XPS 3.06GHz/HT Pentium IV). The reasons I use Suse is because : * it is a standard among some large corporations * Supported by IBM * It my workhorse to run VMWare * never breaks down on my server (DNS, DHCP, Firewall, Squid Proxy, Web Content Filtering, ) * Still got to make Samba and LDAP work but only when I will have time !! Regards, -- gatox Running on Xandros Business 2.0 at the desktop, Suse 9.0 Pro with Ximian Desktop 2/VMware 4.5.1 on the laptop and Suse 9.0 Pro as a server and most important Windoze-free.
