I know. I'm using 8.2 and I have that behaviour every single time. I can not log out if I try about one minute of logging in. Some one said you have to start a nautilus window first. Otherwise, it doesn't log out - but leaving it alone for a few minutes will produce the expected result. Also, I can not log out if there is one xterm on some other workspace - so I have to cycle through all workspaces (Ctrl-alt-arrowleft or arrowright), then it logs out. If I get tired of waiting, I simply kill the server: ctrl-alt-backspace, it works every single time. I know that it must be a task that is waiting for something to happen, But I have no idea what for.
I haven't downloaded any patches or bug fixes yet, as it's a waste of time if I have to re-install from scratch again.
This is not windows: reinstalling very seldom works. Do install patches first, there have been tons of them. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
