The sources are in /var/cache/apt/archives You can backup these rpms to cd/dvd and put them back into this folder on subsequent reinstalls, it saves a hell of a lot of downloads.
That is good to know. ...And for one last item --I hope-- it seems that the DVD doesn't want to add (using apt-cdrom & switches) so I guess that means that if base pkgs are required they'll be downloaded...?
No won't be downloaded again. Apt will discover them in the directory and use those. You can't use apt-cdrom to add the dvd as the dvd does not provide apt's metadatabase (similar tot the ones in /var/state/apt/lists)
-- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless Guess that could be considered the 'Achilles Heel' but if apt says there are non-installable deps I will first look to the DVD. I rather figured there might be a compatibility issue.
I got apt working, though, after a fashion. It d/l 19 files but wouldn't install any of them. It said, 'No signatures' or something similar. Manually installed & got things working. - -- ...CH Avoid doing business with 'The Link' ISP.
