Trying to configure Samba in 9.0 via swat; http:/localhost gets me the test page and shows me that apache is working; localhost:901 or 127.0.0.1:901 both get me connection refused errors. Can enyone offer assistance please?
Swat runs its own webserver out of inetd. You will need to go into Yast : Network Services : Network Services (inetd) Turn on swat, (and inetd if it isn't already) Check that it's working with: lsof -i:901 You should get a respons like: COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE NODE NAME xinetd 1685 root 5u IPv4 5281 TCP *:swat (LISTEN) Once you see that you know the daemon is listening. If telnet localhost 901 gets "connection refused" then SuSEfirewall2 is getting in your way. If telnet works and http://your.host:901 doesn't try turning off proxies or try on http:localhost:901 When swat prompts for username/password it wants you to log in as root. Swat is a good tool for setting up samba, the yast module probably is too, I haven't tried it. michaelj -- Michael James michael.james@csiro.au System Administrator voice: 02 6246 5040 CSIRO Bioinformatics Facility fax: 02 6246 5166
