I use pin all the time.
Everyday I thank Togan for suggesting it in SuSE (Unoffical) FAQ.
However, it is my understanding that when you install "pin'
it installs in /var/lib/pin at database called: ARCHIEVES.gz
This archieves contains a summary of all the files so the DVD (or CD)
doesn't have to be mounted for pin to do its search.
However, if you installed SuSE via ftp,
I don't know if you can download ARCHIEVES.gz.
I suppose so, but I couldn't find it.
