The last one I did was a Compaq 6400r. There was a KB article somewhere that said I had to choose as the operating system SCO Unix during the SmartStart sequence. Otherwise, we had hardware problems, like hotplugging not working. Not sure about the NICs not working though.
I hope this is helpful.

is there someone on this list who runs a Compaq ProLiant DL580 with SuSe 9.0 pro. We have problems with the hardware perhaps the nic.
Dan,
Did you Smart Start the box before installing Linux?
Every time we did not SS a Compaq box before installing Linux, we had problems...

We exchanged the whole mainboard and set the installed os parameter with smart start to "Linux". Now the server seems to behave right. Thanks for the support and keep this in mind when using compaq/HP Hardware with Linux! Regards Daniel
