Hello,
I have a Acer T290 laptop (Centrino) and am seeking to get the laptop to get battery life near what I had under XP. Has there been any recent experience with 2.6.4 and power management??
Is it still to buggy for 9.0??
i have a HP-Compaq NX7010 (centrino/pentium-m) and speedstep is working under 2.4.21 and 2.6.4! You can see it unter /proc/cpufreq
AND most importantly, is there a simple thread available detailing how you can install the 2.6.4 and keep 2.4 in case you don't like it or it does not work?
I had no problems by installing the new kernel. You can use the config from /usr/src/linux-default/.config for the 2.6.4. Choose after "make xconfig" Processor-type: Pentium-M ! (# make help) # make all # make modules_install # make install The only problem i had was the framebuffer-console (ATI Radeon 9200), choose in grub/or lilo vga=normal, or you can't see your laptop starting :) One advice, copy the standard entry in your bootmanager to a new one (for example, linux-24), because the new kernel is after "make install" linked to "linux" and "linux-2.6". So your default entry is overwritten. regards Frank
