Hi guys, I tried installing suse 8.2 on a laptop alreasy running windowx xp so I had to partition the hard disk to accomodate it. Now,I had copied the installation cds onto the windows hard disk and was doing my installation from there.
What partioner did you use to create your Linux partion ??? What file system did you install on the partition you plan to use for SuSE ???
I was able to install disk1 (which was in a directory I created on the hard drive) but after that it could not read the rest of the disks (which were each in a directory of their own on the hard disk).
As Carlos said they should all be in the same directory.
I have tried changing the source file but it still tries to read from the directory on which I saved disk1 and then fails to load. Please give me some ideas on how I can go about installing the rest of the cds.
note:they are all on hard disk in the windows partition which I can actually access.
regards Paul.
My experience from installing the personal edition, was most o what you need to start up a system is all on disk i assuming you do a minimum install. You can always add more stuff later. However, I think your first problem is how you are going to get a "ram disk going" so you can get the linux kernel to start. -- In the Beginning was the Command Line ---Neal Stephenson -- __________________________________________________________________ Introducing the New Netscape Internet Service.
