Parenthetically, one subscriber suggested xmule, which I used briefly. It decided, one day, that it wasn't going to download the server list. I fed it a single server & it then managed to aquire several more, but not nearly what is on the default list.
That sounds like the behaviour of an old version of xMule. I use 1.7.2 (via apt) and it works fine. I've had it crash maybe twice in 3 months when trying to add a new file for download. Otherwise it's stable and had no problems at all with keeping the list of servers upto date and downloading files at decent speeds.
C. Well... I d/l xmule-1.7.4c and attempted './compile && make' according to instructions. After lots of console output it boiled down to the following...
Compiling AddFriend.cpp... I executed 'make' again and nothing further happened other than much console output. What gives? -- ...CH Avoid doing business with 'The Link' ISP.
