Odd, the web page says nothing of this, nor have I gotten my upgrade announcement.
I went to http://www.vmware.com/download/workstation.html, followed the link for ``Download Binaries for Linux systems'', http://www.vmware.com/vmwarestore/newstore/download.jsp?ProductCode=WKST4-LX..., logged in as a registered user, read and indicated my agreement to be bound by their EULA, then was presented with a page containing links to the tarball and RPM packages. Those, again, are: http://download3.vmware.com/software/wkst/VMware-workstation-4.5.1-7568.tar.... http://download3.vmware.com/software/wkst/VMware-workstation-4.5.1-7568.i386... The files are on a public server and do not require login (nor accepting the EULA, for that matter) in order to download them. I SSH'd to the remote machine where I need to install the new version and used wget to retrieve the package.
Are you sure this is not BETA software for which you should not be publishing this info?
The page said: Latest Released Version: 4.5.1 | 03/15/04 | Build 7568 | ~40 MB Nothing I've seen indicates that it's a beta release. It's exactly what you get if you log in and try to download the latest version of VMware Workstation 4 for Linux. -- Phil Mocek
