Hi list users, I did not use the nessus + nmap combination since I upgraded to 9.0. I used to regularly update both nmap and nessus to the latest, compiling from tar.gz sources. Never had problems until now. Unfortunately, I discovered that there seem to be something broken among the three: nmap 4.50, nessus 2.0.10 and the kernel distributed with SuSE 9.0. I did some googleing, also searching through the archives and found out that the *news is old* - a lot of discussion took place end of 2003. But, there is no so much useful advice there - some blame SuSE, others blame nmap, etc, I don't know. What I did is to change a particular #define in config.h in nmap sources, after ./configure, but before make. It helped a lot, but only to nmap. Nessus still doesn't work. I have very little time for further experimenting. I need advice from somebody who managed to run nessus successfully on SuSE 9.0 - whatever version. So, people, which version of nmap and which version of nessus to use with 9.0 and how? Pleeease - I need this ASAP, I have an audit to do. Hope that I can make it without downgrading my SuSE, just with tweaking nmap/nessus combo. TIA, TIA, TIA regards, cikasole
