Personally I want to see the code from freedesktop.org make it in as a replacement for XFree86. It has some _seriously_ nice features and eye-candy built in.
XFree86 shot themselves in the feet with a BFG9000 when they modified the licence the way they did. Kudos to SuSE for exploring alternatives in light of the current situation.
