Any chance this will be in the next release (suse 9.1)? Just wondering...
From www.rubberturnip.org.uk/planetsuse :
"SuSE LINUX 9.1, available in April 2004, and the next generation of SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server, available in summer 2004, will include an enhanced version of X11 based on a XFree86 version prior to the license change.
"For the future, we are exploring different options, e.g. X.org and freedesktop.org, to establish a reliable alternative that lets our customers benefit from future enhancements in Linux desktop infrastructure technology."
Personally I want to see the code from freedesktop.org make it in as a
replacement for XFree86. It has some _seriously_ nice features and
eye-candy built in.
XFree86 shot themselves in the feet with a BFG9000 when they modified
the licence the way they did. Kudos to SuSE for exploring alternatives
in light of the current situation.
