I haven't been able to get You to function -- it seems to go into some loop where it says:
"initializing",

(sigh) #> -linda Hi Linda, I am running SuSE 8.2, (I own 9.0, just haven't installed it) however, I believe the command to rebuild the rpm data base for 9.0 is: "rpm --rebuilddb" and when I do it, the files in file:/var/lib/rpm change. I had based my comment with regard to this directory and it's effect on YOU on what Anders had said in another post. I could look it up, but it is late. The YaST2 source files are "available" so one could look inside them to see what they are doing, so it is not that "SuSE doesn't know." SuSE Support is mostly about security patches and bug fixes, If you expect much more, expect to be disappointed. (IMHO, The Security fixes are well worth it.) YaST2 is many things -- and the reason I suggested "fou4s" is it is basically a "wget" program, because is not a "control center, etc.... it handles updates much easier... If you need more help on YOU, I would suggest sticking with this thread.... Or one that says you. See the archieves: http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux-e/2004-Mar/0963.html Hope this helps, Gar -- PS The archieves are "threaded", so it is best if you have one post per topic.
