Well, I tried out StreamRipper last night and it worked out pretty well. The main thing I liked (and I don't know if other programs do this as well) was that I was able to tell it how long to capture. My mp3 player is 128mb so I figured I could get about 4 hours of mp3...at 1mb per 2 minutes music. Since I didn't want to stay up for 4 hours capturing this stream, I set it to 14,400 seconds. In the morning I found almost 4 hours of music.
The downside was that I wanted one big mp3 (long story). Instead, I got an mp3 per song. To most folks this is a good thing...I'm weird.
It was easy to compile, easy to use and gave good results. I haven't tried mplayer, but I did notice that it didn't give me an option to record for X time. This to me is a must. It might do it, I just didn't notice it.
Toodles. Add to your mplayer findings to the fact that it won't allow one to hear the stream as it is being recorded, and one might probabably prefer another method. Thanks for the report. I'll give streamripper a try. :-)
